Gazette Notice: Winchester Tettey Boye Installed as Abeka Mantse (Nii Boi I)

According to Local Government Gazette Bulletin No. 50 dated 22nd November 1974, the Government had taken cognizance of the installation of Winchester Tettey Boye, on the 2nd of May 1968, as Abeka Mantse in the Asere Division in the Ga Traditional Area. Nii Boi I (Apajafo) was installed from Nii Boi We: Abeka. This gazette notice is the formal government recognition of Nii Boi I as the first gazetted Abeka Mantse. He was the 3rd son of Nuumo Apiakai (George Boye / Okyeame Apiakai), and had been made chief by the people of the town and his father on the authority of the paramount chief. He had previously served as Secretary to the Abeka Stool in 1956. The newspaper clipping also shows a photograph of Nii Boi I in full traditional regalia as Abeka Mantse.
